Compare Fujitsu Centauri central heat pumps

Both series share the multi-position air handler, the Inverter compressor, R-32 refrigerant and the 12-year parts and compressor warranty; the Centauri XLTH pairs it with an outdoor unit with a heated base, for extreme cold. Every capacity is detailed in the Brochure tab. The COP at −15 °C tells how much heat the unit produces in extreme cold for each unit of electricity.

A heating element for your comfort

The Fujitsu Centauri heat pump adapts to the extreme conditions of our Quebec climate. Especially during very cold periods, it offers perfect comfort down to temperatures as freezing as -26 °C with the Centauri XLTH, without compromising on performance. Fujitsu equips the Centauri XLTH outdoor units with a base with a heating element to allow efficient defrosting and to ensure full efficiency of the device when it is very cold.

Heat pump in extreme cold

The Centauri heats down to −21 °C. The Centauri XLTH, with its heated base, heats down to −26 °C, with no low-temperature lockout: it delivers its full rated heating capacity at −15 °C, and still 80 % at −26 °C (75 % in 48,000 BTU), according to Fujitsu’s technical data.

Up to $4,464 in LogisVert rebates

Both series are ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certified: Hydro-Québec pays $120 for every 1,000 BTU/h of heating measured at −8 °C. The amounts are those of the combinations with the Fujitsu multi-position air handler. From 30,000 to 48,000 BTU, the Centauri, whose certified capacity at −8 °C is slightly higher, receives slightly more than the Centauri XLTH, which keeps the advantage in colder weather.

Installing your Fujitsu Centauri central heat pump

The multi-position air handler installs vertically (airflow up, or down with the optional kit) or horizontally, to the left or to the right, and connects to your ductwork. Its static pressure can be set up to 0.8 in. WC, it detects refrigerant leaks on its own, and a Fujitsu electric heater kit from 2 to 16 kW can be added.

Your installation in 4 steps

  2. The right capacity for your homeAn advisor assesses your home, your ductwork and your current heating system, then recommends the series and the capacity, from 1 to 4 tons.
  3. Installation by our techniciansMore than 30 certified employees, no subcontractors: the outdoor unit is set on its base and the air handler is connected to your ductwork, according to industry best practices.
  4. Your comfort, guaranteedYour heat pump is covered by the Fujitsu 12-year parts and compressor warranty, and our team is there for maintenance.

Maintaining your Fujitsu central heat pump

Regular maintenance keeps your heat pump efficient and extends its life. Three simple habits are enough.

  • Every monthCheck the indoor unit’s filter and replace it as needed: a clogged filter slows the airflow in the ducts.
  • Every yearKeep the outdoor unit clear (snow, ice, leaves) and have it cleaned once a year.
  • Every 2 to 3 yearsHave the system inspected by a professional, indoor coil included.

Frequently asked questions about the Fujitsu Centauri central heat pump

Centauri or Centauri XLTH: which Fujitsu central heat pump should I choose?

Both series pair with the same multi-position air handler. The Centauri, offered in six capacities from 12,000 to 48,000 BTU (1 to 4 tons), heats down to −21 °C. The Centauri XLTH, from 30,000 to 48,000 BTU (2.5 to 4 tons), has an outdoor unit with a heated base: it heats down to −26 °C and delivers its full rated heating capacity at −15 °C. During the free estimate, an advisor determines the series and the capacity that suit your home.

Down to what temperature does a Fujitsu Centauri central heat pump heat?

Down to −26 °C for the Centauri XLTH, with no low-temperature lockout, and down to −21 °C for the Centauri, according to Fujitsu’s technical data. At −26 °C, the Centauri XLTH still delivers 80 % of its heating capacity (75 % in 48,000 BTU).

Where is the air handler of a Fujitsu Centauri installed?

The air handler is multi-position: it installs vertically, airflow up or down (with the optional kit), or horizontally, to the left or to the right. It handles a static pressure up to 0.8 in. WC, detects refrigerant leaks on its own and can take an optional Fujitsu electric heater kit from 2 to 16 kW.

What is the warranty on Fujitsu Centauri central heat pumps?

Installed by a Fujitsu Elite contractor such as Les Entreprises MPH and registered within 60 days of installation, a Fujitsu Centauri heat pump is guaranteed for 12 years on the compressor and on parts. Registered without an Elite contractor, it is guaranteed for 10 years; without registration, 7 years on the compressor and 5 years on parts. Labour is guaranteed for 10 years.

How much is the LogisVert rebate for a Fujitsu Centauri central heat pump?

Both series are ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certified: Hydro-Québec pays $120 for every 1,000 BTU/h of heating measured at −8 °C. With the multi-position air handler, the Centauri receives from $1,272 (12,000 BTU) to $4,464 (48,000 BTU), and the Centauri XLTH from $2,520 (30,000 BTU) to $4,080 (48,000 BTU). Details on our Rebates page.

What do SEER2, HSPF2 and COP mean?

SEER2 measures a heat pump’s seasonal efficiency in cooling, and HSPF2 its efficiency in heating. The higher these numbers, the less electricity the unit uses for the same comfort. The Centauri range goes from 17 to 19.9 SEER2 and from 9.6 to 10.5 HSPF2. The COP at −15 °C, measured by ENERGY STAR, tells how many units of heat the unit produces in extreme cold for each unit of electricity: from 1.96 to 2.40 for the Fujitsu Centauri central range. At 2, it delivers twice as much heat as an electric baseboard for the same electricity.

How do I maintain a Fujitsu Centauri central heat pump?

Check the indoor unit’s filter every month and replace it as needed, keep the outdoor unit clear of snow, ice and leaves, have it cleaned once a year and have the system inspected by a professional every 2 to 3 years. We offer heat pump cleaning.

How much does an installed Fujitsu Centauri central heat pump cost?

The price depends on the series, the capacity needed, your ductwork and the layout of your home. Ask for a free estimate: an advisor recommends the right model, with no commitment.
