Salary and benefits

• $47.85 / hour: the CCQ rate for a journeyman refrigeration mechanic, residential sector (2026), plus the 13% vacation and holiday pay.

Experience

This job is for an experienced refrigeration mechanic who works independently in residential service: you know how to diagnose, repair and maintain our customers’ heat pumps, air conditioners and furnaces. Service experience is required to apply.

Requirements

• CCQ journeyman refrigeration mechanic competency card
• Residential service experience (diagnosis and repair)
• Valid driver’s licence

The job

You diagnose, repair, maintain and start up wall-mounted and central heat pumps, air conditioners and furnaces for our residential customers. You are the customer’s first contact: you explain clearly what you found and what you recommend.

Tasks

• Diagnose and repair air conditioning, heat pump and heating systems.
• Check the operating pressures and temperatures of the refrigeration system, superheat and subcooling.
• Check the system’s amperage and voltage (compressor, condenser and fans).
• Perform maintenance and start-ups according to the manufacturers’ specifications.
• Fill out service and start-up reports.
• Order parts and follow up with the office and the service manager.
• Answer customers’ questions and help them understand their equipment.
