Wall-mounted heat pumps
The indoor unit of a wall-mounted heat pump can be cleaned with a vacuum. Then gently wipe the unit with warm soapy water and dry it with a soft, clean cloth.
It is a good idea to clean the washable filter once a month, with a vacuum or a solution of water and mild detergent. Important: the filter must be completely dry when you put it back in the unit.
Once a year, wipe the outdoor unit with a damp cloth and remove any dirt, leaves and debris that could affect its operation.
Central heat pumps
To keep the air quality good, it is recommended to replace the filter every 3 to 6 months. Also remove any debris that could block the airflow around the outdoor unit.
Cleaning a central heat pump does require special expertise: for inspection, lubrication, duct cleaning and other adjustments, it is best to rely on professionals.
Before cleaning or servicing your unit, always turn the heat pump off and disconnect the power supply.
