Salary

$22 to $40 / hour, depending on experience. CCQ wage, according to the decree.

We are looking for installers or installer helpers to install air conditioners and heat pumps, and for all kinds of air conditioning, heating and ventilation work. We have a great work atmosphere, more than 25 employees and solid expertise in air conditioning, heating and ventilation. You will be our customers’ first contact: a good attitude is essential.

Job description

The air conditioning and heating installer carries out installation work under the responsibility of the technical director. They help and work with the team leaders to keep installations running smoothly. They are committed to being motivated, offering courteous service and keeping a good attitude at all times. They contribute to their own learning, development and continuous skills improvement. They are responsible for the quality of their work, the cleanliness of the site, the company equipment and supplies lent to them, and their personal tools. They take the necessary steps to boost the profitability and productivity of their installation team.

Tasks

• Carry out the main work (brazing, flaring, evaporator drain, electrical connection, drilling holes).
• Decide on the piping size, type of connection, wire gauge, breaker capacity and water drainage.
• Determine the location of the holes.
• Determine the type of support, the location of the line cover and the safety devices.
• Carry out 24 V control work and program the thermostat.
• Ensure the refrigeration system is leak-tight (500 microns).
• Balance the refrigeration system and charge the refrigerant.
• Read and check the installation manuals according to the manufacturers’ specifications.
• Record the unit’s operating data.
• Do a general check before and after the work with the customers and apprentices.
• Explain installation guidelines, options and constraints to customers and apprentices.
• Determine the location of the installation components (electricity, evaporator, condenser, ducts, piping, etc.).
• Plan a clean and efficient installation with the team.
• Fill out the start-up sheets to make sure the unit works properly.
• Answer customers’ questions and help them understand their equipment.
• Contact the technical director or the suppliers’ technical support in case of an installation or start-up problem.
• Follow up with the company on unfinished work, work to be redone or any other problem.
• Contact the customer before arriving or in case of delay.
• Solve problems together with the technicians.
• Lead, train and supervise apprentices and other team members.

How you will do it

You will lead installations on the road. You will make sure installations are done consistently, according to the rules of the trade, taking every step needed to meet the company’s and the customers’ requirements. With your team, you will set the installation techniques and steps to carry out the work efficiently. You will help the company grow through quality work and outstanding customer service, and take part, with the company, in developing a plan for the continuous improvement of installation techniques.
